About these terms
These terms cover your use of clearskylightscrawley.co.uk and give a general outline of how a rooflight or skylight quote and installation contract works. They are a plain-English starting point, and the operator of the business should have them reviewed by a solicitor before relying on them.
The site is run by Clear Skylights Crawley, a service-area business with no public premises. You can reach us by email at info@clearskylightscrawley.co.uk, on WhatsApp, or through the form on the contact page. By using the site you accept these terms. If you disagree with them, please stop using it.
Using this website
The pages are here to help you understand rooflights, skylights and our installation work. You may read them, print them for your own use and link to them.
- Do not copy the text or images for another business or republish them as your own.
- Do not use the quote form to send anything unlawful, misleading or abusive, or anything that is not a genuine enquiry.
- Do not try to interfere with the site, its security or the third-party tools on it.
Copyright in the text, design and images belongs to us or our licensors. Information on the site is general. Every roof is different, so nothing here is a quotation or a substitute for a survey, and any guidance on regulations should be checked against the current Approved Documents and your local authority.
How a quote becomes a job
The first step is an enquiry, made through the quote page, by email or by WhatsApp. We then arrange a survey of the roof, the opening and the room beneath it. The survey lets us choose the glazing build, seals and upstand for what the room actually needs, and that choice is written down in the quiet spec that comes with every quote. You can read more about it on the quiet spec page.
The written quote is the document that matters. It sets out the products, the work included, the price, the payment terms and any assumptions. Nothing said in a conversation or shown on this website overrides it.
| Stage | What happens |
|---|---|
| Enquiry | You tell us what you want |
| Survey | We look at the roof and room |
| Written quote | Scope, price and terms in writing |
| Acceptance | You confirm, and we book the work |
| Installation | We fit to current Building Regulations |
Price, payment and changes
Any price we give is the price in the written quote, for the work described in it. General cost ranges on the costs page are guides only. If the roof structure reveals something the survey could not see, we will tell you before any extra work is done and agree the change in writing.
Deposits, stage payments and the final balance are set out in the quote. Where you cancel a job as a consumer, your statutory rights, including any cancellation period under the Consumer Contracts Regulations, apply as the law provides, and the quote will explain how they work for made-to-order products.
Installation, Building Control and guarantee
We install to current Building Regulations and handle the Building Control notification where the work is notifiable. You are asked to provide safe access to the roof and room, and to tell us about anything hidden that could affect the work, such as cables or pipes.
Our workmanship is covered by a 10-year workmanship guarantee. It is not insurance-backed. Its scope and conditions are set out on the guarantee page and in your paperwork, and it sits alongside your legal rights as a consumer, which it does not reduce.
Liability, complaints and the law
Nothing in these terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else the law does not allow us to limit. Subject to that, we are not liable for loss arising from your reliance on general information on this site.
If something goes wrong, follow the steps on the complaints procedure page. How we handle your personal data is explained in the privacy policy. These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and its courts have jurisdiction, although if you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland you may also bring proceedings there.
We may update these terms from time to time. The version on this page when you use the site is the one that applies.
