Get a rooflight and skylight quote in Crawley, in writing

Tell us about the room and the roof. We survey, listen, and send a written quote with its quiet spec. The form is below, and asking commits you to nothing.

How a rooflight quote works

A quote from Clear Skylights follows three steps: you tell us about the room, we survey it, and we send a written quote with its quiet spec. You can ask for one without any obligation to go ahead.

The quote form is on this page. Fill it in below, send a message on WhatsApp, or email us, whichever suits you. The form takes a minute, and it asks only for what we need to plan the visit.

What to tell us first

A few facts let us plan the survey well. None of them has to be exact, and photographs are welcome.

  • Where the property is, so we can confirm it falls within Crawley and the 30 miles around.
  • The room under the opening and how you use it, such as a loft bedroom, a kitchen or an office.
  • The roof: pitched or flat, tile, slate or membrane, and roughly how large an opening you have in mind.
  • Whether you are adding a new rooflight or replacing one that has failed.
  • Anything that bothers you, such as drumming in rain, aircraft overhead or road noise.

The last point matters most to us. It tells us what to listen for when we arrive.

The survey, and what happens at it

The survey is a visit to your home. It is where the quote really begins, because almost everything that decides a rooflight price can only be seen on site.

We look at the roof covering and the structure beneath it, the access for scaffold or a hoist, and the room below. We measure the opening. We stand in the room and listen for aircraft on the Gatwick routes where they apply, for road and rail, and for what rain on the existing glass sounds like. We also check what needs protecting and what needs making good afterwards.

It is a calm visit, and it is not a sales pitch. We take notes and photographs, answer your questions and tell you roughly when to expect the written quote.

The written quote and its quiet spec

A few days after the survey, you receive two documents together. One is the quote. The other is the quiet spec.

The quote gives the scope of the work, the products, the price and the terms, including the 10-year workmanship guarantee described on the guarantee page. The quiet spec is a one-page note for your room. It records what we heard, the glazing build we propose and why, and how the seals and upstand are finished.

Read them at your own pace. Ask us to change anything, such as a different product, a second opening or a simpler finish, and we revise both documents together.

No obligation, and what happens if you say yes

Asking for a quote commits you to nothing. If you decide not to go ahead, you keep the documents and owe us nothing.

If you do go ahead, we agree dates, protect your floors and furniture, and carry out the work. Where it is notifiable, we handle the Building Control notification, and we install to current Building Regulations. We make good inside and hand over the paperwork. To understand how the price is built up, read the costs page, which gives general market ranges as a guide and explains how to compare quotes.

Where we go

We cover Crawley and 30 miles around, across West Sussex, Surrey, East Sussex, the Kent edge and the south London fringe. That includes towns such as Horsham, Haywards Heath, Reigate, East Grinstead and Brighton.

We install and replace ten kinds of rooflight and skylight, from roof windows and flat roof rooflights to roof lanterns and sun tunnels. If you are unsure which suits your roof, say so on the form. The survey is the right time to decide. You can also learn more about Clear Skylights before you write, or reach us through the contact page.
