Who is responsible for your data
Clear Skylights Crawley decides how and why the personal information you send through this website is used, which makes us the data controller under UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018.
We are a service-area business. We have no public premises and publish no address, so the contact routes are email at info@clearskylightscrawley.co.uk and WhatsApp; the WhatsApp number is on the contact page. You can also use the quote form on any page (get a quote) or the contact page. This policy covers clearskylightscrawley.co.uk only.
What we collect, and through which route
We collect only what you choose to send us, plus a small amount of technical data that every web server handles. The three routes behave differently, so they are set out separately.
The quote form
The form on the site is provided by a third-party customer relationship management (CRM) service and appears inside a frame on our pages. When you submit it, your answers go to that service and then to us. Typically that means your name, email address, phone number, the property postcode, and the details you give about the rooflight or skylight you want. Anything you type into the free-text box is also stored, so please keep it to the job.
If you message us on WhatsApp, we see your number, your profile name and whatever you send, including photographs of a roof or ceiling. WhatsApp is run by Meta and has its own privacy notice covering how it handles your messages.
If you write to us, we keep your email address, the content of your message and any attachments.
Technical data
Our web host records standard server logs, such as IP address, browser type and the pages requested. These are used for security and to keep the site running. Our cookie policy explains what happens in your browser.
Why we use it, and the lawful basis
We use your details to reply to you, survey the property, prepare a written quote and, if you go ahead, carry out the installation. Each use has a lawful basis under Article 6 of UK GDPR.
| Purpose | Lawful basis |
|---|---|
| Replying to an enquiry and preparing a quote | Steps at your request before a contract |
| Carrying out and guaranteeing an installation | Performing the contract |
| Building Control notification, tax and accounts | Legal obligation |
| Keeping the site secure and handling disputes | Legitimate interests |
We do not sell your data. We only send marketing where you have asked for it, and you can withdraw that request at any time.
Who else sees it
Your information is shared only where the job needs it. That includes the CRM provider that hosts the quote form, our email and WhatsApp providers, our web host, and the local authority or its appointed inspector when a Building Control notification is made for notifiable work. Suppliers and subcontractors receive only the details they need, such as the site address and access arrangements. Some of these providers may process data outside the UK. Where they do, they should rely on an approved transfer mechanism, and you can ask us what applies.
How long we keep it
Enquiries that do not lead to a job are kept for up to 12 months, then deleted. Records of completed work, including the written quote, the quiet spec and guarantee paperwork, are kept for the life of the 10-year workmanship guarantee so we can honour it, and for as long as tax and accounting rules require. Emails and WhatsApp threads follow the same timings. If you ask us to delete something sooner and there is no legal reason to keep it, we will.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you can ask to see the personal information we hold about you, and to have it corrected, deleted or restricted. You can object to processing based on legitimate interests, and ask for your data in a portable format where that applies.
To use any of these rights, email info@clearskylightscrawley.co.uk. We will respond within one month. We may need to confirm who you are first.
Complaints to the regulator
If something has gone wrong with your data, tell us first so we can put it right. Our contact page lists every route. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office, the UK regulator, at ico.org.uk.
Changes to this policy
We will update this page if the way we handle data changes, and the date of the latest revision will be shown on it. For questions about a quote, start at the quote page.
