Accessibility statement: a site that works for you

We build for WCAG 2.1 AA so rooflight and skylight information is easy to read and use. This page lists what we have done, what is still difficult and how to tell us.

Our commitment

We want everyone to be able to read this site and ask for a quote, whether they use a screen reader, a keyboard, voice control, magnification or a phone with one hand. The site is built to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at level AA.

This statement covers clearskylightscrawley.co.uk. It is a plain-English starting point, and the operator of the business should check it against the latest audit of the live site before relying on it. We are working towards full conformance and have not claimed an independent audit.

What we have done

Accessibility is part of how the pages are built, not something added at the end. The aim is that the core journey of reading about a rooflight or skylight and sending an enquiry works for every visitor.

  • Text and interface colours are chosen for readable contrast on both light and dark backgrounds.
  • Headings follow a logical order, so a screen reader user can move through a page by section.
  • Every link, button and form field can be reached and used with a keyboard, with a visible focus outline.
  • Images carry text alternatives where they convey information.
  • Pages reflow on a narrow screen and remain usable when text is enlarged to 200%.
  • Tables are kept short enough to fit a phone without sideways scrolling.

We also keep the language plain. You can see how we explain things on the quiet spec page, which uses specification terms in ordinary words.

Known limitations

Some parts of the site are provided by other companies, and we have limited control over how they are built.

AreaKnown issue
Quote formA third-party frame, so its labels and focus order follow the provider's design
MapA visual tool that is hard to use by keyboard or screen reader
PDF or image filesMay lack full text alternatives

The quote form sits inside an iframe. If it is difficult to use, you can send the same details by email to info@clearskylightscrawley.co.uk or by WhatsApp. The map is an extra. Nothing on it is needed to contact us, because our service area is described in words on the about page and in our area pages.

Report a problem

If you cannot use part of the site, or find something that breaks the standard, please tell us. Email info@clearskylightscrawley.co.uk with the page address, what you were trying to do, and the browser or assistive technology you use. You can also send a WhatsApp message or use the contact page.

We aim to acknowledge reports within 5 working days and to tell you what we can change. If a page cannot be fixed quickly, we will provide the information another way, such as by email or by reading it to you through a message exchange.

Enforcement and your options

If you are not happy with how we respond, you can contact the Equality Advisory and Support Service (EASS), which advises on discrimination and accessibility rights in Great Britain. The government's public sector accessibility regulations do not directly apply to a private business, but the Equality Act 2010 requires service providers to make reasonable adjustments, and we treat this statement in that spirit.

If our regular ways of working do not suit you, tell us what would help. A survey appointment, a written quote and the guarantee paperwork can be handled in the format and at the pace that suits you, and you can start from the quote page or any route you prefer.

Keeping the statement current

We review the site for accessibility when pages are added or redesigned, and update this statement when something changes. Any new feature from a third party is checked before it goes onto a page.
